Hello!
Marita Brinkmann here! I am a certified Special Education and Elementary teacher. My passions include utilizing individualized instruction and finding researched based teaching strategies to help my students succeed. I love all things technology and am always finding new ways to incorporate it into my lessons. I am not set on one particular approach, but rather, I like to draw from all of my past teaching experiences across multiple settings; Reggio Emilia, Montessori, online teaching ELL, inclusion classrooms, self contained classrooms, private school settings and public school settings.
When I’m not teaching or lesson planning, I enjoy checking out the plethora of festivals in Atlanta, exploring new restaurants, cooking international cuisines : my favorite - authentic tacos from scratch! I also enjoy hiking, running, and day trips to the mountains of north Georgia!
My hope for I Teach Atlanta is that it provides a place where teachers in the Atlanta area can inspire one another through; our shared purpose, zeal for professional growth and supportive community. There is such a high burnout rate in the teaching profession - we need to have each other’s backs.
Please feel free to contribute in any way you can: whether you want to write a guest blog post, provide helpful guidance, or share resources. This is a collaborative platform - let’s build an inspirational community together!
