I think we educators can all agree that we are not paid enough for the great responsibility our job entails. (educating the future generation and all..!) There are many businesses that agree with this sentiment and offer discounts and specials for educators, in stores and online. Unfortunately, these deals are not well publicized and many educators, including myself, are clueless to these fantastic offers! Following is a list of 50 of the best discounts for teachers.
Arts and Crafts
- Michael’s: When stocking up on arts and crafts supplies be sure to inquire about their 15% discount for educators.
- Blick art materials: When you sign up for the Dick Blick preferred Cards you will receive 10% off on your purchases. They also provide teacher resources such as free lesson plans.
- Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts: Sign up for the Teacher Rewards Program to receive a 15% discount on all purchases. Additionally, if you opt to have your discount card mailed to you, you will have a 20% off bonus coupon.
School Supplies
- Izzit.org: This website features educational videos for grades K-12. Once a year they offer educators 1 free educational video for your classroom.
- Staples: The Staples Teacher Rewards program offers teachers 5% back in rewards points. You will rewarded $5 for signing up and can receive up to $250 in rewards.
- Office Depot: They offer 10% back in reward points through the Star Teacher Program and their website has teacher resources such as educational videos.
- Office Max: MaxPerks reward program for teachers offers $10 for every $75 spent on select purchases.
- The Container Store: Sign up for the Organized Teacher reward program and receive exclusive discounts and offers all year. For in-store purchases be sure to present an employee school badge.
- Lakeshore Learning: When you join the Lakeshore Learning Teachers Club you will receive 15% off on select items in-store. Be on the lookout for monthly specials as well.
- Discount School Supplies: While they don’t have a rewards program, they offer teacher discounts on select items, be sure to inquire before completing your order. They also offer tax exemptions for select organizations.
- Dollar Tree: At participating locations, they offer 10%off when you present a valid school ID. They also feature resources on their website for setting up your classroom on a budget.
- Target: With an ITIC (International Teachers Identification Card) teachers will receive 10% off purchases.
Books and Magazines
- Barnes and Nobles: The B&N Educators Program offers 20% off, 25% off during Teacher Appreciation Week, and exclusive offers for featured events.
- Book Warehouse: Educators are offered 15% off purchases and additional discounts on large purchase orders.
- The New York Times: Discounts for delivery to your home or school are offered. In addition, you will receive digital copies. This offer extends to family members for free.
- The National Geographic: Educators get $1 off every digital magazine purchased which can be viewed on an iPad, iPhone, and Kindle.
- PBS: When you sign up for the PBSLeaning Media you will gain access to educational videos, games and lesson plans.
- Scholastic: The Teacher Store offers 25% off and up to 50%off on sales and featured specials. They also host book fairs and warehouse sales with teacher discounts.

- J.Jill: Offers a 15% discount on full-priced items in-store when a valid teacher ID is shown.
- Banana Republic: when you show your teacher’s ID badge in store you receive a 15% discount on your purchase.
- J Crew: A 15% discount is offered a check when you present a teacher ID in-store only purchases.

- New York and Co.: When you sign up for the Big Apple for the Teacher program, you will receive 15% off any in-store purchase as well as special offers via email.
- Madewell: if you shop in-store, and present a valid teacher ID, you will get 15% off on your purchase.
- Eddie Bauer: Show a valid teacher ID and you will get 10% off your in-store purchase.
- Belk: Every Tuesday, teachers are offered 20% their instore and online purchases!
Electronics
- Best Buy: They will match any discounts offered by the Apple Education Store program.
- Apple Store: Join the Apple Education Store program and receive numerous discounts on electronics. This program also extends to professors and librarians.
- Cell Phone Companies: By using your work email on your account you may receive discounts up to 20% off your monthly bill. Participating companies include: Sprint, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, TMobile.

- Home Depot: Only valid for in-store purchases, you can show their tax exemption paperwork to pay no sales tax on your purchase.

- Liberty Mutual: This offer is dependent on your state and driving record. With the right qualifications, they offer a $0 deductible for damage that occurs on school property or during school-related events.
